The Larry Lizard book review #DaddyReads

Well it's the final Daddy Reads post of the year and to go off with a bang with the first in a new series of Little Mouse Bedtime Stories. With the first book named Larry Lizard by author, Alison Murtough and illustrations by Chris Jaffe.

Now Larry is a Lizard who becomes a wizard one stormy night by counting his way through the thunder and lightning, while counting shapes he grows fond all shapes, especially Hexagons. While it may sound a bit different it's not a bad read, but it's well worded and pulls the kids in

The book is very brightly illustrated and Chris Jaffe has done a spectacular job here and both girls loved the artwork throughout the book and I agree with them, it's lovely. And to show the book off we've uploaded this for your pleasure. I make no apologies for these somewhat hyper but tired children in this clip!

On speaking to both girls after they'd had a sleep Lissy told me she loved the book and all the pictures, asking me to read it over and over whereas Vee loved the story but she felt there was a lack of describing words in the story but she's been on a mission to pick out words left right and centre, I prefer this to a tablet/video game staring zombie.

To wrap up, being the first in a new series of books it's off to a great start in what looks to be an exciting series of bedtime stories that I'll be more than happy to purchase more once the next books in the series are published.

If you'd like to pick up a copy of Larry Lizard It's available here in digital and print and for more info on the Little Mouse Bedside Stories series click here.

Sunday, lazy Sunday

Today has been good.

The kids have calmed to the idea of school holidays and the arguements have fizzled out. Huzzah to that, but more importantly an important tast i've been waiting to start has begun.

Tidying mum's grave has been the start of making her resting place look monumentally awesome. The photo i took today will be my silent sunday, but it would not have happened if it were not for Ali. Cheers for your help today.
As a result I'm happy to help with her garden as it's in need of a tidyup and i think it's the least i can do.

Tomorrow will be fun methinks just me and the girls. More on that tomorrow.

Jebediah the Angry bird storms Tesco

Thursday evening I was lurking on twitter as usual.and joined the following conversation With MumontheBrink and CafeBebe about Tesco failing.

This resulted in a  let's throw things at the store, from bananas to mushrooms. Eventually my angry bird Jebediah became the thing to throw.

Like a strange dad I accepted the challenge. (yep think meme's here)
Roll on friday morning and we begin launching Jeb across the floor, and avoid getting bollocked by staff. How? Because I'm the boss baby!

Forget angry Birds Seasons..... This is Angry Birds TESCO!

Meet Jebediah
He tastes good too.
Yep sporting the correct eyewear

The Mission was a success, no removal from store and we didn't lose him. and kept a fair few people smiling during the mini throw session.

Disclaimer Leave the stupid stuff to me, as it could get you kicked out.

Shy Kids and a near daddy fail

Heya all

Yesterday was fun. Both Lissy and Vee have been waiting for today to come.

Why it's so special? The monsters had the morning with me in town, for a special purpose.
Meeting a certain builder minus his team or Wendy.

Yep, Bob the Builder was rocking the local Asda we discovered after a disastrous shopping day the week before (thieving gits be banks) The staff asked us about it and even got us a leaflet while we packed the bags. Top lady.

We get there to see Bob, and my word the most excitable little lady becomes shy, getting upset in my arms. meaning I get to be photographed with bob too! He didn't offer me a job in Sunshine Valley though, boo.
As we leave little Lissy makes a scene, I twig that she wanted bob, as she had been quiet i thought she was shy too and left her in the buggy. OOPS Daddy forgot to get miss shyness out.

Once rectified we had a happy lump, running over to Bob for a hug.

There will be more pictures soon. I have to scan them or photograph them (molome test 2) first. And maybe more too As i may be taking Vee to see him tomorrow too, she wants to show bob she's not shy this time.

Huge thanks to the Staff, Bob and his minder for giving us a few extra photos, and letting me sneak this one off my own camera (they offer free photos on the 1 hour collection service in store, those to be scanned)
It put a huge smile on the kids faces. and now the DVD's not leaving the player for quite a while.
