If you've seen previous posts about the Alcatel OT 903 and 903D I've got a good update for you!
With thanks to an anonymous poster on the original post I give you a way to root! Sends virtual beer to you!
To start you'll need the following
Alcatel ADB Drivers - Clicky Here (Use MTK for OT903 ONLY!!)
Eroot Tool - 4shared - Clicky Here
I will upload a zip with both the root and drivers soon!
First things first. DISCLAIMER!!
I HAVE TRIED THE SOFTWARE AND IT WORKED OK, BUT CHECK WITH ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE BEFORE YOU CONTINUE - SOME TOOLS MAY WARN OF ISSUES AS ROOT IS USUALLY DONE WITH AN EXPLOIT! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU COCK THIS UP!
I am doing this through 32bit windows xp! swearing may vary!
in my case it's
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Downloads\Alcatel_ADB_with_Eroot
Plug your phone into the computer. you'll get a Found new hardware popup.
manually select location of drivers.
paste the folder info you copied earlier, if you get an error about no drivers, click OK, then click browse next to the information you've copied in.
from there select win32 or win64 for what you need.
it'll install from there.
Once done open up Eroot!
you'll see the following screen Please do not be afraid of the language the tool works.
Eventually you'll see the following screen with a huge root button. If not reboot the computer and try again, as XP may require a reboot to make things work.
WARNING! IF YOU DO THIS I AM UNSURE IF YOU CAN UNROOT WITH THIS - YOU ARE FAPPING YOUR WARRANTY UP THE WALL THIS IS THE LAST CHANCE TO GO BACK!!!!!
Click the big green Root button. and wait up to 10 mins for all the ticks to become green.
Unplug, reboot and all should work. Use Root checker to confirm all has worked, if not try again.
It does go weird at times but a hard reset aparently fixes this. That said my device has no SDCard so that could be the issue too!
Let me know how this goes

It works, thanks!ReplyDelete
Can you make a post how do we get superuser to work on it nowReplyDelete
Hi Superuser should work on rooting without having to update any binaries. the standard update methods with the bundled SU APK crash the phone in recovery mode and refuse to update via the app.Delete
However to use the superuser tool install something that may require root, like a font manager. on install and opening it'll ask you to grant or deny superuser settings, and after 5 seconds it'll let you choose allow or deny.
I'll write a post for you soon, be noted I no longer have a working ot903 though, I@m hoping it's the battery as it refuses to charge now. but i'll try ad get it working and postedsoon
nice my alcatel OT-903D root success. Thank you for this wonderful idea. More Power.ReplyDelete
hey dude, does this guide work for 903d too? i did the steps as you said. it gives me the message that there are no drivers but i don't get what i have to do after that!! you say to click browse next to the info i've copied. the only browse i find is at the new hardware wizard. do you mean that one? cuz i clicked it but i can't find the win32 or win64 that you sayReplyDelete
i tried this one... i installed driver 1.0 on my pc and on my phone's sd card. some folders were created. i let the phone browse each and every of them but it didn't find the necessary files...ReplyDelete
I did manage to root using the method you describe above, I did this before you posted the solution above, but yes I did it this exact same way. Unfortunately once rooted my phone didn't really behave as it should and I couldn't find any custom roms.ReplyDelete
Surely someone somewhere is able to update Android for this device? I think this phone is a fantastic little brick! I restored to default as that is the only way for my phone to work.
No point in rooting this phone just yet in my opinion unless someone somewhere can update Android OS on it.
There are no roms for it. I've been searching for ages with no success.Delete
Use the root to optimise the device, overclock it and stabilise it's overall gingerbread quirkyness
